What is Love?

What is Love?

What is Love? Is it a tingling feeling or is it that tender, passionate affection for that beautiful damsel or handsome dude?

All the definitions of love that was found in dictionaries were in my opinion unable to capture the real essence of love. This is simply because they describe ‘romantic feelings’ which are basically affection, feelings, and emotions. However, love is much more than a feeling, though feelings and emotions are involved.

The true definition of love is indeed “Choosing to accept an imperfect person for the rest of your life” (Olumide Emmanuel)

This definition embodies the true essence of love. It highlights the choice and commitment involved in love, without failing to note the state of the object of love – an imperfect person. It acknowledges that the person may not always be deserving of your love but all the same, there is a commitment to love always.

The essence of romantic feelings is to facilitate connection and attraction. Once connections are established then the real task of love begins. Love is practical. It involves accepting, understanding, sacrificing and perseverance…..

It is sad that most people base their entire relationship solely on what they feel. The reality is, even without the presence of romantic feelings, love still lingers on…

Let’s talk about LOVE at “UNMASKING LOVE” holding on Feb 18th, 2018 at The Hosannah House, Wuse 2 Abuja…
